Oven Control System

The Oven Control System (OCS)
executes a pre-programmed
temperature profile entered by the
operator or taken from a standard
library of cures (64 total). While
executing, the OCS continually
monitors all of the active temperature
measurement points and vacuum
points for actual behaviour as
compared to the preset profile. In
the event of a severe deviation from
the profile the OCS will signal the
operator with a siren and visual
display alarm. The OCS is modularized
to allow the monitoring of
several items curing within the
oven at the same time.
For
instance, each block of eight thermocouples could be connected to a
dedicated block of eight thermocouples
situated in different corners
of a large oven. The display
can be segmented to display the
details of each of the items in the
oven. Control of the oven is
accomplished by using the median
(average of the hottest and coldest
Tcs), the coldest Tc or the hottest
Tc out of the entire set of configured
Tcs to control the oven temperature.
The control outputs of
the controller will be the same
voltage as the input voltage to the
OCS. If 110VAC based control is
desired, power the OCS with 110
VAC.-
Oven Control System Standard Features
The Oven Contol System has the following standard features:
- The OCS is configurable from a minimum of eight (8) measurement points up to a maximum of sixty-four (64) measurement points in increments of eight. Each group of eight may be configured as thermocouple type J(0-760 deg. C), K(0-1000 deg. ), T(-100-400 deg. C), E(0-1000 deg. ), R(500-1750 deg. C), S(500-1750 deg. ), B(500-1800 deg. C), N(-270-1300 deg. ) or C(0-2320 deg. CC). By default, the OCS is installed with J thermocouples and can operate from 0 to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit( 760 deg. C ). Temperature point connections are made along the right and left sides of the OCS. Depending on the type of temperature measurement devices used, the interconnection blocks are configured to match.
- All vacuum ports are located on the top edge of the enclosure. Vacuum ports are installed in pairs to allow the OCS to monitor the pressure as well allowing the operator to attach an external gauge or other external monitoring device. Each pair is internally mounted to a shared manifold where the OCS independently measures the pressure in each configured manifold.
- The display is a two color, text and graphics display with 320x240 pixels. The display provides the operator interface to the OCS. The display can be removed from the enclosure and mounted into an external housing up to 6 feet away from the enclosure( this is useful for. cabinet inside a cabinet situations, where the display needs to be visible at the outermost cabinet)
- The OCS provides for open temperature sensor, high temperature and low temperature alarms for each measurement point. All installed vacuum ports are independently monitored for a minium vacuum setting. In the event of an alarm, a siren will sound until the offending alarm is acknowledged by the operator.
- The OCS has two solid state relay power outputs. Typically, one output is used to control the heating element(s) and the other is used to control the cooling element(s) of the oven. Both outputs run at the same voltage as the input power to the controller; either 110VAC or 220VAC. The outputs can withstand a maximum voltage and current up to 480 VAC/40 amps. When the outputs are configured as 1 heating and 1 cooling the controller prevents both inputs being active simultaneously
- The OCS is outfitted with two series connected “door” switches. These outputs are intended for use in cutting off the dangerous, heating/cooling elements of the oven whenever the door to the oven is opened.
- The OCS is supported by a three warranty.
